Former Environmental Party Changes Shirt Colour from Green to Black
Back in March I blogged about the Greens having a conference motion about Zionism, that we weren’t able to see. Now they’ve had another conference, and voted in favour of (what I take to be) the same motion.
Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, when the people of East London — especially Jews — stood up to Oswald Mosely’s blackshirts, the British Union of Fascists. Mosely’s lot were more honest, in their naming at least, than the party that used to campaign for the environment, and still calls itself ‘Green’.
The motion that passed today equates Zionism with racism. ‘Zionism’ is a term which, like many, has various meanings, and can be used in different ways. But at its base it means the support for the right of the Jewish people to return to their ancestral homeland in the region of the world sometimes called the Holy Land, sometimes Canaan, or the Southern Levant. In 1948 international law declared a part if that land, Israel, to be its own independent state.
The ‘Green’ party’s motion calls for the eradication of Israel. I still can’t find the full wording, but a post on their website says:
The motion also restates the Green Party’s backing for the right to self-determination and calls for the establishment of a single democratic state throughout historic Palestine.
Well either that’s calling for Israel to control the entire region (unlikely!) or it’s calling for Israel to disappear. From the Jordan River, as you might say, to the Mediterranean Sea.
That’s Hamas’s Nazi propaganda talking. The Green Party has brought shame on British politics, and I’m ashamed of myself for the three or four times I’ve voted for them. And if you think that state is going to be democratic, I’d like to introduce you to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Fuck that shit. I hope all decent members leave the party. I hope Polanski is absolutely destroyed in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election on Thursday. I personally will never vote for them again. Right now I’d sooner vote fucking Reform.
On this anniversary, the Green Party, Oswald Mosely would would be proud of you. And Hamas and the Ayatollahs are laughing.
