Potter Week

OK, I declare this the start of Potter Week. I’m just on my way to Stratford, where we’ll eat at Pizza Express, before going to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Then this time next week we’ll be getting ready to head out to a bookshop for a midnight launch party for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

It is a time steeped in magic.

Am I the only person in the country who has (a) not read ANY of the Harry Potter novels, and (b) not seen more than about 10 seconds of one of the films (and that was on television, while flicking channels)?

Have fun. My money is on Harry being left a mere mortal human after the events of Book 7.

Paul, I strongly suspect that you’re not. But you’re in a good position to start now, in that you wouldn’t have to worry about starting a series that was still being written.

The latest film is the best of them so far, in my opinion.

    Paul,

You are certainly not alone. What you wrote is a good summary of my position.

I have nothing against Rowling / Potter I just have loads of other things I want to read and even if, as I believe, they are page turners there are seven long books and so would take a goodly amount of time.
